English football style is not for Perak

One time ago, Perak was sitting pretty at the top of the 2007-2008 Malaysian Super League table. Then one day, Perak was knocked out of the top by a better team coached by a local soccer coach paid much cheaper than Perak’s own English speaking foreign soccer coach and found themselves sitting not so pretty at number two. A little while after that, Perak was nudged out of their number two position and have to be satisfied with a number three position by another better team coached by a another local soccer coach that is also paid much lower than Perak’s English speaking foreign soccer coach.

Last night was a big moment of joy for many Perak soccer fans that have grown tired of their English speaking foreign soccer coach. Perak was outclassed by Negeri Sembilan; a team quite similar with the ones that I had mentioned above. Negeri Sembilan is also being coached by a local soccer coach who is also paid much cheaper than Perak’s English speaking foreign soccer coach.

It is time for the big Datuk and the rest of the children and nephews of many Datuks in Perak FA to accept the fact that English football/soccer style is not for Perak. Time and time again, the English speaking foreign soccer coach put the blame to Malaysian ‘padangs’ (soccer fields).

In a sense, the English speaking foreign soccer coach is quite right. Malaysian football/soccer fields are not up to the standard that is normally required for modern football/soccer. But, let us ponder on this thought for a moment. Brazil inarguably is one of the giants of world football/soccer. Do you know that most football stadiums in Brazil were also built not up to the standard and requirements of modern football/soccer?

Still, Brazil managed to play outstanding football/soccer! Why? The reason is simple. Brazilians did not bother about the quality of the football pitch. They will find ways to adapt to it and this is something that many English soccer coaches can never do and this includes Steve Darby. The truth maybe a little too big for Perak FA to swallow but they have to swallow it one day.

Besides, what is the chance of FAM ordering all state football/soccer associations to upgrade and reconstruct all major football/soccer fields in Malaysia to comply with the standards required for modern football/soccer in the next two years?

Zero! That would never happen!

One thing certain is that Perak FA can make this happen next season, say thanks to Steve Darby and tell him that he is no longer needed to coach Perak’s soccer team. Just get an accomplished local soccer coach such as Azraai Khor to replace him. Perak FA must save Perak and our talented soccer players from the shackles of English football style fast before they lose all of their individual soccer talents. I can already see that some Perak players such as Subramaniam and Azlan Zainal had already lost their touch due to their long damaging exposure to English football style.

Can you do that, Perak FA?
